ADRIAN GALYSH PERFORMS AT 2013 WINTER NAMM SHOW

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2013) – Melodic instrumental rock guitarist Adrian Galysh will perform at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) trade show at the Seymour Duncan booth, located in Hall B, booth 5561, on Fri., Jan. 25 from 4 – 4:30 p.m. 

In 2012, Galysh was honored by Brian Moore Guitars with his own signature guitar, the Adrian Galysh Signature C90F, which features Seymour Duncan JB and Alnico II humbucker pickups.  

“Seymour Duncan and great tone are synonymous in guitar circles,” said Galysh. “I have Seymour Duncan pick-ups in just about every guitar I own. The company has always been super supportive of my music, and I am pleased to perform for them at this year’s NAMM convention.”

Described as “a virtuoso of modern electric and acoustic guitar techniques” by 20th Century Guitar magazine, Galysh has a successful trajectory spanning three solo albums and numerous collaborations and performances with industry giants like Uli Jon Roth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Carl Verheyen, Mike Keneally, George Lynch, Warren DeMartini, and many more.

Galysh is preparing the release of his fourth solo album Tone Poet, due spring 2013. The album includes 12 tracks featuring rock-fusion, sweeping orchestral works, and world music with a Spanish influence. New Record Update!

Hello, 

First, I want to take a moment to thank everone who reads this blog and who has supported me by watching and sharing my videos, attending my shows, purchasing music, and telling their friends about my passion and my work. I truly appreciate it.

I have been hard at work recording my next album, Tone Poet. This album features 12 captivating tracks, with styles spanning from rock, fusion, and even spanish influences, to sweeping orchestral works with choir! It features riveting and dramatic instrumentals, as well as electrifying songs with vocals. All of the tracks feature plenty of acoustic and electric guitars, as you have come to expect.

You may have read, I have enlisted ex-Yngwie Malmsteen vocalist, Mark Boals, to contribute vocals on a number of tracks. He absolutely killed it, knocking out 5 tracks on a day off from tour at his home studio in Austin, TX!

Needless to say, the album is coming together nicely, but I have much more work to do. I need to track drums for 4 more songs, re-record a number of my guitar parts, re-track some solos, and then lay down bass guitar parts. After that is done, then there is album artwork, and the final mastering.

May 15 Gig at the Baked Potato Recap

Hey folks!

I wanted to thank all those who came and supported me at the world famous Baked Potato in Studio City last Tuesday, May 15th. It was an intimate night of music, (and potatoes!) featuring my band-mates and friends, Philip Bynoe on bass, Glen Sobel on drums, and Yuko Tamura subbing for regular member, Maureen Baker, on keys.

We plowed through 12 tunes in our 70 minute set, that included tunes from my albums "Venusian Sunrise", "King Friday", and "Earth Tones"... We tweeked up the set in rehearsal, trying to add some performance elements, tying a few tunes together, added an extended intro to fan-favorite "Ventura Blvd.", and I've been trying to improve my between song-patter. It isn't easy describing or giving a story behind instrumental songs! I think the band is developing a few key memorable "moments" over the course of our set - including the jaw-dropping drum solo by Glen Sobel.

Video Guitar Lessons

Hey there!

I have been posting youtube video guitar lessons over the last few months, and I wanted to post a few all at the same place...

Want a fresh approach to your two-hand tapping licks? This first video, examines a two handed tapping lick that uses two strings at a time. Years ago, when I was in college in Pittsburgh, I took a guitar lesson with Reb Beach, guitarist for Winger at the time (now with Whitesnake). He showed me his approach to tapping, which is truly unique and complex... and he showed me the idea of tapping, where the left hand hammers on to a note on the next string, in order to perform continuous sequences across the fretboard. Stealing this idea, you'll see below how I tap a note with my right hand, pull-off to a note held with my left hand, then hammer on the next note in the arpeggio on the string below, with my left hand. This allows me to perform more melodious parts with wider intervals than if I tried to do it all on one string.



I'm a big fan of easy and/or consistent ideas for guitar. This next lesson sounds great, but is pretty easy to perform and the same pattern gets repeated up the neck. This works over an A dominant chord and/or blues progression. As the pattern climbs the neck, it outlines notes from the minor pentatonic scale, the major 3rd from the dominant chord, as well as the chromatic passing tone from the blues scale, with a diminished sound over all.



How to get that "outside" sound... easily. This video lesson shows you my "secret weapon". Years ago, I asked jazz guitarist, Henry Johnson, advice on how I can achieve that "outside" sound I often heard from jazz guitarists as well as Alan Holdsworth. I also asked him to keep it simple, so I could implement it easily as a rock guitarist. Below is what I what taught. Whip this out at your next jam session and watch heads turn!
